It’s Your Wedding Not Theirs.

As you begin to transform your wedding dream into reality, you must do your best not to allow the dream to become a nightmare through the over involvement of other people or feel forced into paying too much for vendor services. Remember, it is your wedding not theirs.

When, it comes to weddings, many folks stand ready to give you their advice on how they think your wedding should be. In some cases, family and friends, with the best of intentions, attempt to take ownership of your wedding planning.

They stand ready to advise you on what to wear, what music to play, what foods should grace the reception, what persons should sing, and other such matters that are part wedding planning. Many of these folks, really contribute to making your wedding a success. I sometimes wonder if others are just trying to live or re-live their wedding vicariously through your wedding. Remember it’s your wedding, not theirs.

Then there are the caterers and the wedding planners doing their best to up sell you on the more and more razzle and dazzle leaving you roughed up and dizzy. Remember, you are in charge not them. They work for you, not the other way around. You are the best judge on what foods you want served and what music you want played. Remember, it’s your wedding not theirs.

Finally, let’s not leave the wedding officiant out of the fray. Most wedding officiants offer rather expensive wedding packages, based on the number of attendees and type of ceremony. You should never feel pushed or forced into an expensive wedding package you can not afford. Remember, it is your wedding not theirs.

In reality, the wedding officiant’s role is two fold. First, he or she assists you in the creation of your wedding ceremony. Secondly, on your wedding day, the wedding officiant legalizes your marriage, through your repeating of vows, exchanging rings, and  their pronouncement that you and your fiancee are now legally husband and wife. The average wedding ceremony lasts no more than fifteen to twenty minutes. And, how much are you paying for the officiant’s services? Remember, it's your wedding not theirs.

On of the reasons, God called me to be a wedding officiant and start Lasting Love Ministries / Lasting Love Weddings & Officiant Services, was to be an advocate for couples on a budget and help them plan a beautiful wedding without leaving them broke, busted, and disgusted before the honeymoon even begins. After all, it is your wedding not theirs.

Blessings
